This morning at breakfast a beautiful woman tried to talk to me. I immediately shut down. I took a breath and relaxed and tried to listen. I responded with some small affirmatives and didn't make eye contact feeling that that would indicate my need for quiet in the morning. I didn't want to say that I didn't want to listen because that would be rude. But, when I continued to feel the physical urge to beat the shit out of the noise offending creature for continuing to engage me when I sent all of the signals indicating my inability to deal with talking this morning, I said, "I'm sorry, I just can't handle this right now." She graciously excused herself and left me to finish my breakfast in silence.
